Dropped in on the off-chance while doing the Seven Dials Open Art Houses trail. What a delight! Had a seriously delicious roast dinner (chicken for me, beef for my friend, and veg for both - red cabbage and beetroot, buttery roast carrot, an especially tasty croquette, Yorkshire pudding, potatoes, greens - plus a slab of stuffing) served by friendly staff who also provided taster samples to help me choose my preferred beer. Sat in the spacious rear garden amongst the olive trees and evergreen jasmine. And even admired the distinctive period architecture. Now reading other people's reviews which reveal a recent change in the kitchen and some disappointment amongst regulars. Either the owners have sorted themselves out or the previous chef was a genius!
We love Good Companions! Always a treat to go there. Cosy pub with loads of room. Great outdoor area with heaters a lots of seating. Food is totally delicious. Hearty, delicious roasts (generous portions) and great menu generally. Wide selection of drinks and one of the best pub quizzes around.
Spot on veggie roast. Feels like they prepared it with proper consideration, not just the poor cousin to the meat version. Highly recommended.
Really nice place, wish I explored more as the garden looked beautiful. Lots of corners for people who like to sit out the way. 16 for a fish and chips and a redbull. Perfect price for the amazing quality food you receive. The lady was very welcoming and friendly. Would 100% go again if I lived closer.
Potatas bravas need to be half the size and crispier (i.e. more oil). Other than that, THE best pub in Brighton.
Went in Jan for a birthday lunch, the food was absolutely amazing, fresh and delicious! Staff are friendly and helpful. Lovely outside section which is very large and clean.
Came here for lunch with our dog and truly enjoyed it. Staff are friendly, super dog friendly, menu has the best range of classic pub food and the quesadilla and buffalo chicken burger were great. Would recommend!
